Torizza® Made Easy
Torizza® Canadian (Pepperoni, Green Pepper & Mushroom)
What You Need
| 1 | Soft Flour Tortilla (flavored ones work as well) | | 1.5 - 2.0 | ounces of your favorite Pizza Sauce | | 12 | Pepperoni Slices (Thin) | | 1/6 | average size green pepper, finely chopped | | 2 | medium size finely Chopped Mushrooms | | 1/2 | Cup Shredded Mozzarella/Cheddar Cheese | | 1/2 Tsp. | Secret Torizza Spice (Italian seasoning will do in a pinch) | | |
Preheat Oven For 15 minutes At 445 Degrees
Step 1 (Click images for larger view)
Apply thin layer of pizza sauce and spread with the back of a soup spoon. Careful, you don't need much, we're looking for flavor, not bulk.
| |
Step 2
Evenly spread pepperoni followed by green peppers and mushrooms. Again, we are looking for flavor, not bulk.
| |
Step 3
Spread the cheese over your creation, leave room at the edges, as cheese will flow outward during cooking. TorizzaTM is always "cheese on top." Now lightly sprinkle Secret Spice on top and place on pre-heated pizza stone.
| |
Step 4
Remove from oven when golden brown, this baby got a little overdone as I was fighting with a wine cork. It was still ultra delicious!
Step 5
Slice your creation into quarters, for right handers, two cuts east to west. Rotate and repeat. The reason we quarter is coming out of the oven this baby will be hot. The outside edges will cool a little faster, and you will want to start eating immediately.
Hints
Build your Torizza on a smooth plate, smooth edge platter or a pizza peel. When done you can then easily slide onto pizza stone in the oven.
To remove Torizza it should be firm enough that a large spatula can be used to slide back onto a plate. We suggest that you purchase a pizza peel. (what the folks at the pizzeria use to move the pizzas around with) |
Variations
- TorizzaTM Bullwinkle - Cheese only, cause the kids like it this way
- TorizzaTM Caldo - Add (pre-cooked) ground hot Italian sausage and hot peppers. (Italians are always hot!)
- TorizzaTM Amore - Red Peppers finely chopped (Named for my best girl and cheaper than roses)
- TorizzaTM Won Ton - Add sesame oil to your pizza sauce, substitute pre-cooked ground pork sausage for the pepperoni and add fine chopped celery.
Diversions
- Wine To Torizza By - 2007 Stonechurch Chardonnay Barrel Fermented VQA or any Stonechurch Syrah (if you enjoy more than a hint of pepper)
- Recommended Beer: - MOLSON ULTRA - all the flavour with less carbs and calories (Just Like Torizza!)
- Music To Torizza By - Sting...Brand New Day (get the audio DVD in DTS, if you can find it)
The Bottom Line
TorizzaTM is fun, healthy and easy to prepare. Experiment with your own toppings, just remember to fine chop, TorizzaTM is about flavor, not fill. Also, if you are not using a Pizza Stone, please don't call it Torizza.TM
Ciao!
